R&S Industrial Cleaning Equipment was approached by Old Stratford Community Hall following a recommendation from one of our existing customers. Our Account Manager, Hannah, arranged a site visit to meet with the management team and assess their cleaning requirements first-hand.
About Old Stratford Community Hall
Old Stratford Community Hall is a well-used local facility serving residents from Old Stratford and neighbouring villages. Built and opened in 2000, the hall plays an important role within the community.
The building includes two main halls, a kitchen area, licensed bar, toilets and changing rooms with showers. It is regularly used for private functions, a pre-school during term time, and a monthly Senior Citizens Afternoon Tea.
The Challenge
During the site visit, it became clear that the hall’s existing cleaning equipment was ageing, no longer fully functional, and no longer fit for purpose.
Much of the equipment was now obsolete, meaning replacement parts would be increasingly difficult and expensive to source. With cost-effectiveness and long-term planning in mind, the team were keen to avoid ongoing repair costs and instead invest in new equipment that would futureproof the facility.
The Solution – Tailored Cleaning Equipment for a Multi-Use Community Hall
Based on the hall’s layout, usage, and cleaning challenges, Hannah recommended a tailored combination of equipment to improve efficiency, safety, and results.

We also introduced the concept of dry steam cleaning, allowing effective cleaning and sanitisation without chemicals — an important consideration for a community facility used by children and vulnerable groups.

Addressing Unique Cleaning Challenges
One of the biggest challenges at the hall was cleaning the main hall’s extremely high ceilings — approximately 8 metres high.
Previously, this required climbing ladders or outsourcing specialist cleaning at significant cost. Neither option was ideal from a safety or budget perspective.
To resolve this, we recommended a high-level cleaning system that allows cleaning to be carried out safely from floor level. The system combines a powerful vacuum with lightweight carbon fibre poles, eliminating the need for ladders and making regular cleaning practical and cost-effective.

Implementation and Training
Two weeks later, R&S delivered the new cleaning equipment to site.
PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) training was provided to ensure the team felt confident using the new equipment safely and effectively. This was particularly important given the hall’s volunteer-led environment.
