INDUSTRIAL & COMMERCIAL VACUUM CLEANERS
From everyday commercial cleaning to hazardous and combustible dust recovery, R&S Industrial Cleaning Equipment can help identify a vacuum solution suited to your material, working environment and operational requirements.
Not Every Industrial Vacuum Does The Same Job
The correct vacuum depends on much more than suction power. Material type, hazardous-dust classification, combustible-dust risk, collection volume, cleaning frequency, power supply and the classification of the area in which the vacuum operates can all influence equipment selection.
Commercial Vacuums
Professional vacuum cleaners for routine cleaning across offices, facilities, workshops, warehouses and general commercial or industrial environments.
Discuss Your Requirements →Hazardous Dust Vacuums
Vacuum solutions where the dust being collected requires appropriate filtration and containment rather than a standard commercial vacuum.
Ask About Dust Classes →ACD Combustible Dust
Purpose-designed vacuum solutions for appropriate collection of combustible dust in suitable areas outside ATEX-classified zones.
View ACD Solutions →ATEX / Zone 22
Specialist industrial vacuum equipment for appropriately classified hazardous areas where combustible dust can create an explosive atmosphere.
View Zone 22 Solutions →Understanding ATEX & Industrial Vacuum Selection
When hazardous or combustible dust is involved, machine selection needs to go beyond capacity and suction performance. The dust itself, the environment where the machine will operate and any hazardous-area classification should all be considered.
This Nilfisk guide provides a useful introduction to some of the considerations involved when choosing industrial vacuum equipment for ATEX and specialist dust applications.
ACD Combustible-Dust Vacuums
For appropriate collection of combustible dust where the operating area itself is not classified as an ATEX hazardous zone.
R&S has access to additional industrial vacuum models, configurations, capacities and filtration options. If you cannot see a suitable machine below, speak to us about your application.
Nilfisk VHS011 ACD
Compact industrial ACD vacuum for frequent combustible-dust collection in restricted production areas.
Nilfisk VHS010 ACD
Compact 30-litre ACD machine offering more collection capacity while retaining a small industrial footprint.
Nilfisk VHS120 ACD
Higher-capacity ACD industrial vacuum for businesses generating larger quantities of combustible dry material.
ATEX & Zone 22 Vacuum Solutions
Where a DSEAR assessment identifies the operating location as a classified hazardous area, appropriately certified vacuum equipment may be required.
Nilfisk ATTIX 40 Type 22
Portable M-Class Type 22 vacuum for professional mobile dust collection in appropriate Zone 22 applications.
Nilfisk VHS010 / VHS011 Z22
Compact industrial Zone 22 vacuum family with different filtration and containment configurations available.
Nilfisk CTS40 Zone 22
Three-phase continuous-duty industrial vacuum for demanding classified dust applications and higher-volume production sites.
Combustible Dust Does Not Automatically Mean ATEX
Materials such as flour, sugar, starch, cereal dust and some other fine powders can be combustible. However, the presence of a combustible material does not automatically mean that every area in which it is handled is an ATEX-classified hazardous zone.
The site’s DSEAR assessment and hazardous-area classification should determine whether the location where the vacuum will operate is classified.
Where combustible dust needs controlled collection but the operating location is not classified as an ATEX hazardous zone, an appropriately selected ACD machine may be suitable.
Where the location in which the vacuum operates has been classified Zone 22, appropriately certified Zone 22 equipment should be selected.
R&S can help explain the available machine options. The site’s hazardous-area classification should be established by the employer or other competent person responsible for the risk assessment.
Collecting Flour, Sugar Or Other Fine Dust?
In bakeries and food-production environments, dry sweeping can disturb settled flour and other fine materials and return dust to the air rather than controlling it at source.
Choosing a vacuum for these applications is not simply a question of selecting the largest machine. The material, quantity, frequency of cleaning, hazardous-dust requirements and whether the operating area is ATEX classified all need to be considered.
What R&S Will Want To Understand
Rather than simply recommending a vacuum from a photograph, we’ll look at the application and help narrow down the appropriate equipment options.
What Are You Collecting?
Dust, flour, powders, swarf, general debris, hazardous material or another substance can all require different equipment.
Where Will It Operate?
The working environment and any DSEAR or hazardous-area classification are important when assessing combustible dust.
How Much Material?
Collection volume helps determine whether a compact 15–30 litre machine or a higher-capacity industrial vacuum is more practical.
How Will It Be Used?
Occasional housekeeping, frequent cleaning and continuous-duty production applications place very different demands on equipment.
Can’t See The Vacuum You Need?
The products shown on this page are a selection of recommended commercial and industrial vacuum solutions — they are not the full range available through R&S. We can source and specify additional machines with different capacities, filtration systems, power supplies, collection methods and hazardous-area certifications.
